Voice4Kids #1 Recap

Voice4Kids #1 Recap

On December 17, 2023, we held the Voice4Kids event for the first time. With the proceeds, we supported the organization Hospiz-Team Nürnberg e.V. and provided them with a small platform to present themselves to metalcore fans. The evening itself was a combination of celebration and information sharing. The Mayor of Nuremberg opened the event, and throughout the evening, representatives from the Hospice Team Nuremberg and Torrential Rain took turns leading the event between the three bands. Over 70 attendees enjoyed the event!

For several months, we worked on the project in collaboration with the Hospice Team Nuremberg and were proud to present the results to you.

Outpatient children's and youth hospice services are specialized facilities focusing on the care and support of seriously ill children and their families. These facilities offer a variety of services to improve the lives of children and their families, especially during times of illness and grief.

The outpatient Hospice Team Nuremberg e.V. has been providing advice and support to individuals at the end of life and their families in their home environment for over 27 years. This includes support in their own homes, senior residences, care facilities, palliative care units, or the Xenia Hospice House.

In addition, children, adolescents, and young adults, people with intellectual disabilities, people in housing and homelessness support facilities, and individuals in the deaf community are supported. The grief counseling center offers both open and structured grief support groups and also supports grieving individuals through individual counseling sessions. Training for hospice and grief counselors is provided through the affiliated Academy for Hospice and Palliative Medicine.

Overall, the work of children's hospices is essential for families with seriously ill children as it provides not only medical and practical support but also emotional support and assistance with grief. The use of music as a therapeutic tool can facilitate the process for those affected and often leads to better coping with the situation.

It was and is important to us that donations stay in the region and directly benefit the people on-site. We are grateful for your support!

Greeting of the Mayor of the City of Nuremberg on the fundraising campaign for the Outpatient Children's Hospice Service

This year's Hospice and Palliative Week Nuremberg will take place from 14 to 21 October under the motto "Winter is followed by spring - together through grief".

It is the start of a very special project for which I am very happy to be the patron. The outpatient children's hospice work (AKHD) of the Hospiz-Team Nürnberg e.V. is supported by the initiative of the Nuremberg band "Torrential Rain" with a collection of donations. "Together through grief" - in line with the motto, the artists are dedicating themselves over several weeks to supporting families with seriously and terminally ill children in the region and are collecting donations in various ways. I would like to thank all those who are helping this important topic to gain attention, success, and greater reach.

The Hospice Team Nuremberg e.V. helps families of seriously ill children in the region with great commitment. What can happen to a family that is worse than the loss of a child? Often, in addition to the parents, siblings are also affected by worry, fear, feelings of powerlessness, but also by great organizational challenges. These families are also dependent on empathetic, competent, and quick support as well as on people who accompany them during this difficult time. The team of the children's and young people's hospice service gives affected families in Nuremberg and the surrounding area the opportunity to care for and accompany their seriously or terminally ill child at home and thus in family security. Professional specialists and volunteers provide medical and nursing care. Above all, however, emotional support and comfort for the relatives is indispensable for many families to cope with grief and loss.

The work of the Hospiz-Team Nürnberg e.V. is financed by grants, membership fees, a foundation, and donations. Thus, everyone can become part of the support network. Donations can be made via the Torrential Rain homepage, but also by attending a benefit concert on 17.12.2023 in the Z-Bau in Nuremberg.

It is very important to me to draw attention to the commitment of many people involved for the benefit of the affected families. To the commitment of the initiators, the musicians involved, the professional and voluntary staff of the Outpatient Children's Hospice Service and especially to each donor.

"Together through grief" - an event title is filled with life! I thank you very much for this!
