RECAP KREFELD

RECAP KREFELD

I (Gordy) am incredibly pumped. It’s my first gig in two months, and I’m stoked for the trip with the guys. I quickly down my coffee and check the WhatsApp group just in case anything’s come up.

After a bit of back and forth, Domi says he’ll pick up the key. The drive should take about 25 minutes. Meanwhile, Chris sends another update:

So, I decide to take the train to the rehearsal space to save them a detour to pick me up. Of course, the train ends up being delayed for 10 minutes just outside of Nuremberg. Today’s definitely one of those days. Finally, I get to Domi and Jonas, but then Chris hits us with more bad news.

Bottom line: we were supposed to travel in a van, but now we’re heading out with a 2.5-hour delay, crammed into a three-seater van and Jonas, our backup drummer’s, Passat.

The drive goes surprisingly smoothly. No traffic, a quick break, and in good spirits, Jonas and I actually arrive before the others. We scope out the situation and manage to squeeze in a quick soundcheck, which really lifts the mood. Everything feels laid-back now. Chris and Domi arrive too, and we get everything set up fast. Quick check, and we’re good to go!

And the best part: we finally meet the guys from Never Back Down in person, and right away we click. They’re all such great people. It just makes us even more excited for the next shows.

Then it’s time to hit the stage. I’ve gotta admit, I was pretty nervous, but as soon as we hit the first note, it felt amazing to be playing in front of a crowd again. The audience was totally into it and really helped us kick off the tour with a bang. I think our warm-up for Never Back Down did the job. I came off stage super happy and so thankful for all the people who showed up!

After Never Back Down’s set and some great chats at the merch stand, we started heading home. We stopped halfway at an Airbnb, which turned out to be a solid decision. Krefeld was an amazing tour opener, and now we’re hyped for the upcoming shows!
